When to test
The most important test. Establishes your baseline so you have a reference point. Get this done 2-4 weeks before starting.
Check liver, lipids, haematocrit, and oestrogen. If something is significantly out of range, you can adjust or stop before it gets worse.
The recovery check. LH, FSH, and testosterone should be moving back towards your baseline. If they are not, you may need medical intervention.
For accurate results
Fast for 8-12 hours. Test before 10am. Do not train hard the day before. Do not inject testosterone the day of the test if you want trough levels.
Red flags
Haematocrit above 54%
Stop cycle. See a doctor. Your blood is dangerously thick.
ALT/AST above 5x normal
Stop oral compounds immediately. Do not restart until values return to near baseline.
HDL below 0.5 mmol/L
Significant cardiovascular risk. Consider stopping the compounds responsible.
Blood pressure above 160/100
Stage 2 hypertension. See a doctor. You may need medication.
LH/FSH undetectable 8+ weeks post-PCT
Your HPTA is not recovering. See an endocrinologist.
